Family heritage videos are a wonderful way to preserve the past for children, grandchildren-or as a special tribute to parents and grandparents. They are the gift of love in a salute to the past that every family member will cherish for generations.

Preparing for A Family History Video

You've made the decision: A Family History Video is the perfect gift for Christmas, anniversary, or birthday. Preparing the materials for the video can be half the fun of bringing this project to life. We've prepared the following outline to make the pre-production of the video as simple as possible.

Step 1: Layout

Your source material can be photographs, slides, 8mm and 16mm movie film, and "real life" items like baby's first shoes, junior's achievement awards, or vacation memorabilia like ticket stubs, menus - whatever those "can't let go" items that crowd your heart and the family album or file cabinet.

Hints:
The best images on video are those that show clear detail in "real life." For example: a larger photo (3" X 5" minimum) showing 3 individuals will look better on video than say, a class photo showing 33 individuals.

Photos of people are, generally, more pleasant viewing than scenery (e.g. sunset) photos.

Don't forget the family milestones: photos and other keepsakes that recall specific times in our lives are important elements in a well-planned Family Heritage Video.

Step 2: Numbering

Each photo or item must be numbered in the order you wish them to appear on the video. To avoid additional charges, we suggest you keep photos separate from slides so that each media is produced to the video separately (e.g. Photos #1-50, Slides #51-100)

When marking photos or slides, we suggest using a light pencil mark (Pens can dent photos, while felt tip pens or markers will often "bleed" through your photos, staining them permanently.)

"Post-It" notes are not acceptable for numbering your video subjects, as they can fall off and disrupt your order layout.

Step 3: Choice of music.

We can provide music for your video, but you are most welcome to choose your own music (on CD or cassette) to personalize your presentation.

Step 4: Ordering and Further Information

For our new clients eager to experience a Family History Video, we offer an introductory package of 100 photos, transferred to video with digital transitions from picture to picture - all timed to your musical selections with titles and closing message. The cost is $249.95, plus sales tax.

Additional copies of your Family History video are available at a reduced rate of $9.95 per copy. The duplicate tapes are produced from a high resolution master original, so that each member of the family can enjoy their own high definition copy of this special family remembrance.

Of course, we can tailor any project to include mixed media of videotape, photos, slides, film, and family heirlooms. And we'd be happy to provide an estimate for whatever project you are considering. Simply call us at (414) 476-4647 between the hours of 10:00AM and 6PM Central Time, or
